Description:
The overall objective of the REACH project is to combat racism and various forms of discrimination against Roma with a focus on access to health. It involves empowering Roma women and developing their capacity locally. It will also help to break down stereotypes and promote social support for Roma inclusion, by raising awareness and utilizing the capabilities of health professionals and staff working in the Roma Community Centers of Greek Municipalities.
Expected results of the project are:
• Implementation of the EU framework and Greek legislation on national Roma integration strategies.
• Empowering Roma women, youth and children to integrate into society.
• Awareness, training and provision of specialist knowledge to health professionals and support staff for Roma.
Project actions include meetings, consultations, bibliographic and field research to identify health perceptions and stereotypes. In addition, through interviews with mediators, Roma will identify their needs and access to the system and health professionals.
